Jeff Mans

1st year Whaler's Cove Guide

USCG Captain

Jeff's Bio:
Captain/Guide Jeff Mans was born in Michigan to a family of hunting, fishing and outdoor enthusiasts. His outdoors passion has evolved from bobber fishing with worms to fly fishing, bird hunting, back country hiking, canoeing and camping, and he also has a passion for native cultures.  Over the years, he has studied extensively in outdoor survival and primitive arts schools, floated and camped on extended western river trips, lived in remote mangrove flats, trained and maintained award winning bird dogs, chased cattle on horses, worked in National Parks in the Southwest, lived in far off native villages and of course, guided in the Great State of Alaska. Now entering his 12th year as an Alaskan guide, he is excited to share his passion and knowledge of the outdoors as a guide and captain at Whaler's Cove Lodge.

Abbey Russell

1st year Whaler's Cove Guide

USCG Captain

Abbey's Bio:
Captain/Guide Abbey Russell was born in Michigan, and growing up, she loved exploring the lake shores, coasts and rivers of the Wolverine State. Her love for the outdoors has inspired much of her artwork and created a passion for exploring natural wonders and searching rocky shores for relics of days gone by. Her first exposure to Alaska was on an Americorp Trail Crew, where she camped and performed outdoor service projects from the southeast to the southcentral part of the State. From this first trip, a love for Alaska was born, and Abbey has been guiding and fishing in Alaska rivers and coastal waters for over 13 years. Her off-season pursuits include hiking, camping and fishing throughout North America, especially the Florida Keys. She has a passion for learning about native cultures both in Alaska and the Southwest, and she is excited to share her knowledge as a guide and captain at Whaler's Cove Lodge.
