Whalers' Cove offers numerous non-fishing activities for people of all ages. If you don't feel like fishing for the day or your spouse is a non-fishing guest, take advantage of daily trips including wildlife and history tours, relaxing in a natural sulfur hotspring, visit an active salmon hatchery or fly over ice fields on your way to visit neighboring communities. The list of opportunities is endless!
Wildlife Tours

While on vacation, take time to view the wildlife of Southeast Alaska. Your guide will try to get you as close as he feels comfortable for optimum photo opportunities. While on your excursion you can view the largest population of brown bears in the world with one per square mile, humpback and killer whales, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, Sitka blacktail deer, mountain goats, otters and numerous other critters.

Kayaking/Canoeing

Take advantage of viewing the wildlife on their level while in the safety of a canoe or kayak. These activities offer an excellent opportunity for wildlife photography.

Shellfish Fishing

Whalers' Cove offers you the opportunity to take home fresh mouth watering treats like shrimp and prawns, dungeness and tanner crabs, and clams. Grab a shovel and some traps for an exciting days outing.

Hot Springs & Hatchery Trip

One of our more requested day trips is to relax in the natural sulfur hotsprings located 22 miles south of our lodge. While soaking, relax looking at the pristine mountain range and wildlife overhead. After a few hours of that, visit a active salmon hatchery where there are literally millions of salmon fry swimming within arms reach.

Exploring

This is the time when you can just get away by yourself or with your family and friends to enjoy a quiet salmon bake on a secluded beach. All of the beaches in the area hold hidden treasures just waiting to be discovered. The variety of opportunities are endless.

As we always say, "It's your vacation and we want it to be 'one of a lifetime' with numerous fond memories."  If you don't see or hear about something that you would like to do, please let us know so we can provide it for you.
