Fishing trip to AK Just back from a repeat four-day fishing trip at WCL. Both the fish and the weather cooperated. The silvers were running strong, in both salt and fresh water. We also caught plenty of halibut and the other usual deep water fish. The lodge and accommodations are top notch. The staff is first class, very helpful and engaging. You won’t believe the food! All boat captains are experienced and personable. They’ll tailor your day on the water based on your expectations. Top marks in all categories! It would be hard to find a better experience.

The most memorable and amazing fishing trip I've ever taken Where do I begin!! Your way to the lodge is beyond remarkable. You ride in a ski plane with a top notch pilot and get to enjoy an unmatched beautiful view on the way in. Once you get there they take your bag to your room, outfit you with rain gear, and take you out onto 750 square miles of PRIME TIME ocean fishing! Even catching the bait is fun! Our guide, Randy, had us on top of every hot spot in the bay. We limited on everything we fished for every single day! Mark brought us to a freshwater river spot who's beauty cannot be put into words and the fishing was just as remarkable. The fish you catch are processed with absolute surgeon like precision, and you can watch every single fish processed before your very eyes. You then go get showered and changed in their beautiful accomodations and prepare yourself for an amazing meal in the lodge. 5 star for absolute sure! The staff is always smiling and happy and they work harder and more in sync than any crew I've witnessed. Afterwards they have all the mixers for your beverage of choice that you're welcomed to bring with you. There are indoor, semi-outdoor and outdoor lounging locations to relax and enjoy along with s'more ingredients set out for you to make, as well as enlightening and fun conversation with the staff members who honestly seem more like friends than anything. This is every single day at Whalers Cove and the consistency and precision of their craft is unmatched. Thank you so much to Mark and the entire staff at Whalers Cove. Ill see you all again, no doubt! Btw, between 4 of us we left with almost 120# of fresh fish fillets from Salmon, various Rock Fish, and Halibut!! If you're wanting the fishing trip of a lifetime, then contact Whalers Cove, NOW!!!

I couldn't have asked for a better time! Fisrt thing we met at Ward Air in Juneau (super nice crew and nice float planes) and flew out to the lodge. Upon arrival we immediately got fitted with fishing bibs, boots and jackets. Then met our assigned captin (Randy is the man!) and off we went. It took about 2 mins to have a fish on, the silver salmon were bitting good and had 3 or 4 on at a time, multiple times that day. We had a blast!! We then get the fish back to the dock and the dock crew are surgical in rounding up the fish and processing them right then and there before your eyes! These guys know how to fillet a fish!! Then off to dinner, let me tell you they do not disappoint, first night was venison tenderloin cooked perfectly to your liking (for me the rarer the better) and local oysters on the half shell!! The entire staff was so friendly, knowledgeable and probably the hardest working group I've ever seen. Not a joke, these guys handle everything all day and they are back at it at first light in the morning before anyone is up, all smiles with a hot hearty breakfast of your choice!! The spread was amazing. Our cabin was super clean, cozy with a nice deck overlooking the water. Last day of fishing was crazy! We caught our limit of every single species we set out to target. Amazing, Jigging for rockfish the bite was intense and we put the Captain to work for sure. Like kids on Christmas. We saw humpback whales, porpoises and sea lions! This place is a well oiled machine! A huge thanks to all of the captins, crew and everyone who makes it such a special place! What a trip! What a great time! I couldn't recommend this place enough! Here's to another great 41 years 🍻

Fishing in paradise. Outstanding fishing in southeast Alaska. I have been to WCL more than 10 times and it just is the best week of my year. Rustic but beautiful accommodations, friendly and attentive staff, absolutely terrific dining and expert guides who help you fill your freezer with salmon and halibut. You can’t go wrong.

The jewel of Southeast Alaska I have been to WCL 5 times now, and each time my experience has been wonderful! The fishing is world class, the guides are experienced and knowledgeable about the fishery and the area, the food is amazing, (prime rib and king crab on Saturday nights! What?!) and nothing compares to Whaler's Cove hospitality! I even surprised my wife one year and flew her up as well! it was her first time on a float plane, first time halibut fishing, and our guide had her on the fish almost immediately! We even visited the Baranoff hot springs and had a wonderful time there as well. Make sure to try it out if you like HOT hotsprings! Amazing views, amazing fishing, amazing people (love you Mark & Christine!), what more can I say!? If you have never experienced Alaska, you owe it to yourself to experience it with Whaler's Cove Lodge! You won't be disappointed!

Experience of a lifetime I have to say I have done a lot of traveling, a lot of fishing and had quite a bit of travel experience. This lodge is hands down my favorite experience to date. As a woman that likes to fish I think its worth mentioning that I felt right at home and extremely comfortable with the staff, lodgings and fishing captain. So much so that we have decided to bring our daughters and their husbands back next year!

Whaler’s Cove Lodge “Alaskan Fishing Trip” Traveled to Juneau Alaska. From there we were provided a float plane to Whaler’s Cove Lodge. Upon arrival we were greeted by the crew of the lodge and welcomed to a hot breakfast and then packed our lunch for the first day of fishing. Our boat captain “Dom” was awesome and throughly enjoyed him for our daily fishing trip. The daily fish trips were very eventful, you never know what your going to get, but we pulled up some beautiful Coho “Silver” Salmon, Halibut, Cod, Rock Fish, and a huge skate which is in the Ray family. Dom Released the poor guy to enjoy another day. Totally filled all our fish boxes take home with us. Bonus was lots of humpback whales feeding all around us. Now that is a treat I never get tired of. They are majestic when you watch the bubble feed taking place. Even saw Orcas cruising by. After each day of fishing we had a beautiful cabin overlooking the water to unwind in and relax. Of course the gourmet always had a surprise for dinner. Mark and Kristine Powers, who own the lodge along with their whole staff were so accommodating and we totally recommend Whalers Cove Lodge for a week of fun filled fishing and other activities. They also offer river fishing and kayak fishing. River fishing is awesome, haven’t tried kayaking but those who did, caught some huge fish as well. Can’t say enough about our boat captain “Dom” had some very extraordinary days. Husband Tom had a large cod on his line and then something just took his line almost out to the end. Probably a pretty large Halibut latched onto to the cod, but broke loose after a long and tiring fight. Several times we had 2 halibut on the boat. Happened with the salmon as well. If your looking to go on a great Alaskan fishing trip. You won’t be disappointed. Our trip was August 21 to August 28, 2021. Thank you Mark and Kristine and all the crew for a great time.

Best Alaskan fishing lodge We just returned home from a true bucket list trip at Whalers Cove Lodge in Angoon, Alaska. We don’t know what was better the service from the staff crew at the lodge or the fishing. We caught several halibut over 50 pounds'. The staff crew are prompt in finding the answers when they are asked questions they don’t know and are eager to help with any request, small or large. The meals were first rate exceeding the quality of the food we ate in Juneau before flying in to the lodge. The captains are also top notch and truly try to catch the types of fish you want. The captains allow you to participate in setting out the lines or you can sit back and wait for the fish to bite then reel them in. The rooms are great with many having a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains on Admiralty Island right from the decks outside your room. You can also see eagles sometimes whales sea lions and sea otters in the bay in front of the lodge. If you have ever gone on a whale watching trip you can enjoy seeing whales while fishing. This was our second trip to the lodge and we have seen whales breaching and bubble feeding on both trips. Each fishing morning starts out with catching herring bait which is also fun all by itself. We anticipated a slight let down in expectations for our second trip but the second trip was even better than the first trip. There is a family like feel with all of the interactions with the staff crew and customers are made to feel like friends.

Totally awesome Alaskan experience WCL as its known is an experience of a lifetime. Fly into Juneau, AK. Take a roughly 2 hr. catamaran trip to the lodge just outside Angoon, AK. Its remote, but not too remote. The lodge, accomodations, and food are all top notch. That's just the beginning. The boats and their captains are some of the best you'll find in Alaska. Its not just world class fishing though, there are many other activities they provide to fulfill just about anything one could want to do (even trips to a full working fish hatchery). WCL has everything covered for a trip you'll never forget.
